Privacy and your data

What you import, your notes and your reading history are your assets, not our raw material. This section states only the facts we can point to inside the product. Anything that amounts to a commitment is governed by the privacy policy, not by this page:

What we collect

Account information (your email, for sign-in and verification codes), the session and device information needed for security and abuse prevention (IP resolved only to country or region level, never for precise location), and the content you upload yourself (files, notes, highlights, progress).

Third parties involved in AI features

When you use AI translation, text recognition, ask-your-library or the AI dictionary, the content required for that feature (text, images or excerpts) is sent to third-party AI providers for processing. What is sent, to whom, and what they may do with it is governed by the privacy policy.

Your cloud voice API key

If you set up cloud voices, the key stays on this device only. It is never synced and never uploaded to our servers, which means we never hold your third-party payment credentials. To be straightforward about the storage strength: the key is stored locally in plain text, which does not protect it from a rooted device or from someone holding your unlocked phone. We have excluded it from system backup and device-to-device transfer so it cannot leak through a cloud backup.

Data isolation

Isolation is enforced at the database level. Every query is bound to the current user's identity rather than relying on application code to remember a condition.

Deletion, closing your account, and reaching us

Deleted items go to "Recently deleted" first, and you can restore them yourself during the retention window. Account closure is in the account page. How long the window is, and what happens to your data after closure, is governed by the privacy policy.

Troubleshooting

Can you see what I imported: we do not access user content. The database-level isolation constraints apply to our own service code as well.

Where is my data stored: on our own servers, currently deployed in mainland China. Cross-border transfers and the law that applies to you are covered in the privacy policy.

What rights do I have and how do I exercise them: the scope and procedure for access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent and account closure are in the privacy policy.
